Board of Directors
A member of the WHFA board, John serves as Treasurer of the organization as well as being a Family Ski Week Host Committee member for 2009. John is also a BOEC board member and has volunteered for six years with the adaptive ski program.
Upon retiring as the financial controller for Midwest Public Utility Company seven years ago, John and his wife, Linda, moved to Breckenridge. John previously served as an Intelligence officer, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, RVN, 1967-68. He earned a Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam.
Ted serves on the Board of Directors and recently assumed the role of Chairman of the Family Ski Week event.
Ted moved to Breckenridge three years ago after retiring from Southwest Airlines where he worked for 34 years as a pilot, an accident investigator and the Director of Flight Safely. Previously, Ted served six years of active duty in the USAF as a pilot and is a veteran of the Vietnam and Yom Kippur Wars.
Married for over 40 years, Ted and Jean have one daughter who is a 3rd generation professional pilot. Ted holds a BS in Chemical Engineering and an MBA in Finance and Management.
Denise retired from the US Army with honors as a Lieutenant Colonel after 24 years of service. In 2007, she established her business, The Art of You, which provides consulting services to the US Army. Additionally, she is a Reiki Master and teaches all levels of Reiki classes and provides sessions for her clients.
Denise moved to Breckenridge in 2012 and lives there full time. She enjoys Nordic skiing, snowshoeing hiking, and kayaking in the area. She volunteers with the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center to teach adaptive Nordic skiing for intellectually and physically disabled persons.
John has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, biochemical and life sciences sectors. He has held executive positions in sales and marketing, business development, general management, and portfolio investment.
He recently retired to Breckenridge after 23 years of service. He has been married to his wife, Susan, for over 30 years and they have 3 grown sons. John has a B.S. in Biology from Seton Hall University.
Major General Joe Arbuckle
A member of the WHFA Board, Major General Joe Arbuckle entered in the Army as a private in 1969 after graduating Western State College. Following completion of Officer Candidate School as a combat engineer, he was deployed to Vietnam as an Infantry Lieutenant. Arbuckle commanded units at every rank from Lieutenant to Major General including two combat commands (Vietnam and Kuwait). Throughout his long army career, the Major General was motivated by the challenges, variety of jobs, responsibilities, and most of all – the soldiers.
Major General Arbuckle has received numerous awards and decorations including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, 3 Bronze Stars – one for Valor, 6 Legions of Merit, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with 2 silver stars, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and the Army Parachutist Badge.
Married to his wife Jane for 38 years, the Arbuckles have two children: a daughter, Trish, and son, Brian.
